Alberta Men's Hockey League Winter Season

Registration for the 2024-2025 AMHL Winter season is open!

AMHL Winter 2024-2025 Season

• Great ice times for adult hockey - late weeknight games are minimized.
  Approximately 70-75% of the games are at prime time (start times 9:45 PM or earlier). No 11 PM start times.
• 30 regular season games, plus 1 - 2 playoff games guaranteed for each team.
• All teams advance to the playoffs. Wildcard playoff games for all divisions with more than 8 teams. Once Divisions are down to the last 8 teams, best of three series for the remainder of the playoffs.
• Game format is 3 twenty-minute run time periods with the last two minutes in the first and second period plus the last five minutes in the third period being stop time, depending on the goal differential. With this format teams will get more ice time especially during games with fewer whistles.
• Line changes are allowed on all whistles.
• Ice slots are 90 minutes and there will be a flood after every two periods of play.
• Overtime format is 3-on-3 for 3 minutes.
• Quality facilities
  Arenas include Knights of Columbus, Argyll, Clare Drake (U of A), CAC, and various City of Edmonton arenas.
• Quality officiating - two referees and one timekeeper scheduled for every game.
• Attentive customer service.
• Game schedules posted well in advance.
• Divisional placement based on team’s playing ability.  Divisional realignment will be done at certain points during the season.
• High caliber hockey in the upper divisions, Including our Cap City Elite Division!
• The safety of players is a priority for the league.
• Team fees include player accident insurance through CARHA.
• Regular season will start in September, and playoffs will be in April.

Team Fee
The team fee for the season is $11,600 plus GST.

Home Ice Slot

Teams may purchase a home ice slot (half of your regular season games at the same arena, same day of the week, same time) for $1000 (including GST). A limited number of home ice slots will be available for purchase on a first come-first served basis.

Discounts
Deposit Discount - $100 off if deposit is paid by June 15^th. Returning teams will receive an additional $100 off ($200 off in total) if deposit is paid by June 15^th.

Early Payment Discount - $200 off if team fees are paid in full by September 1^st.

Division winners from last winter season will receive an additional $200 discount.

Note: Discounts are deducted from the total fee ($12,180).

***NEW THIS YEAR*** - ADDITIONAL DISCOUNTS & PRIZES! 

• Teams that bring a new team to the league this winter and with both teams returning next winter will receive a $500 discount once both teams have paid their deposit for the 2025-2026 winter season. 

• New teams to the league this winter will be entered for a chance to win a new set of team jerseys once their deposit is paid for the 2025-2026 winter season. 

• Winter team GM’s will be entered into a draw for a trip for two (2 nights / 3 days) to an NHL game for the 2024-2025 season if all team fees have been paid by August 31, 2024. 

Payment Schedule

 Payment Method: 

• The preferred method of payment is Interac Email Transfer (send to amhl@shaw.ca). 
• Cheque, credit card, bank draft, money order and cash are also accepted. 
• Please email the League Office to make arrangements. 

 Receipts will be emailed to the team representative once a payment is received. 

Over 35 Division
If your team is interested in playing in an Over 35 Division, please contact the league office at amhl@shaw.ca. Divisional parity as well as number & variety of teams to play against in each division will be considered.

FREE Jersey Draw
The teams with the lowest penalty minutes in each division at the end of regular season will be entered into a draw for a set of 16 jerseys.
