AMHL Winter Season Information

Team Fee

The team fee for the AMHL 2019-2020 Winter Season is $11,000 plus GST. (total $11,550)

Teams are given a $200 discount off the total if fees are paid in full by August 31 which will bring the fee to $11,350.


Highlights regarding the winter season include:

  • 30 regular season games, plus playoffs for teams that qualify.
  • Two-thirds of teams will advance to playoffs (minimum 2 games, up to 9 playoff games)
  • All games are 1.5 hours with a flood every two periods.
  • Overtime format is 3-on-3 for three minutes.
  • All playoff series are a ‘best of three’ format.
  • The best ice times available for adult hockey - late weeknight games are minimized.
    On average teams will have 5-6 games during regular season that start at 10:30 PM or later on evenings preceding a weekday (i.e. Sunday through Thursday night).
  • Quality facilities - showers at all arenas used.
    Arenas include Knights of Columbus, Argyll, Clare Drake (U of A), CAC, and various City of Edmonton arenas.
  • Quality officiating - two referees and one timekeeper scheduled for every game.
  • Attentive customer service.
  • Statistics posted by noon the following day.
  • Schedules posted well in advance.
  • Divisional placement based on team’s playing ability.  Divisional realignment is done several times throughout the season if required.
  • High caliber hockey in the upper divisions.
  • Safety of players is a priority for the league.
  • Individual and team awards presented to regular season leaders in each division including Top Team, Highest Points and Lowest Goals Against.
  • Trophies given to first and second place teams in playoffs.
  • Team fees include player accident insurance.

The winter season will start on Wednesday, September 4th. Playoffs are in April.

$1000 deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.

$2000 payment

August 31:

$2000 payment

Balance of team fees are due to qualify for the $200 discount.

September 30:           

$2000 payment

October 31:           

$2000 payment

November 30:

Balance of team fees due.
